PC Silva

Brazilian singer-songwriter bringing the poetic traditions of Pernambuco’s Pajeú region into contemporary Brazilian songwriting.

PC Silva is a singer-songwriter from Pernambuco, Brazil. Born in Serra Talhada, in the Pajeú region of Pernambuco’s sertão (the semi-arid backlands), he is now based in Recife. His songs draw on the experience of living between these two places without being confined to either of them. Bringing the folk poetry of his home region into conversation with contemporary Brazilian song, he writes about affection, memory, the passage of time, everyday life and community life, with a close ear for words and melody.

In Recife, he developed his career alongside a generation of songwriters who reshaped the state’s music scene. He was part of the band Bandavoou and remains a member of Reverbo, a showcase and meeting point for original songwriting from Pernambuco, and built creative partnerships with musicians including Juliano Holanda and Martins. His songs have a voice of their own: images of nature and the sertão coexist with city life and subjects that resonate with audiences far beyond his home region.

Even before his solo debut, other artists were recording his songs, and they have kept doing so since. Ceumar recorded “Todas as Vidas do Mundo” on Espiral (2019), beginning a partnership that also reached the stage. In 2021, Ney Matogrosso, one of Brazil’s most celebrated singers, recorded “Estranha Toada”, co-written by PC and Martins, on Nu com a Minha Música. The following year, MPB singer Simone included “Imã”, written by PC, and “Por Que Você Não Vem?”, co-written with Joana Terra, on her album Da Gente. In 2024, Mariana Aydar and Mestrinho recorded “Alavantu Anahiê”, co-written by PC and Isabela Moraes, on their album Mariana e Mestrinho. These recordings brought his work to a wider audience and established him as a respected voice among Brazilian songwriters.

His debut solo album, Amor, Saudade e Tempo (2020), was produced by Juliano Holanda and featured guest appearances by Mônica Salmaso and Ceumar. Bringing together songs written at different points in his life, it introduced a writer able to move between tenderness and intensity while keeping a direct connection with the listener. On Me Dê Notícias do Universo (“Give Me News of the Universe”, 2024), also produced by Holanda, PC broadened both the themes and the sound of his work. With guests Zeca Baleiro, Juliana Linhares, Ezter Liu and Marcello Rangel, the album moves between intimate concerns and a wider view of the world.

On stage, PC performs in different lineups, from the closeness of voice and guitar to full-band shows. His joint performances with Ceumar and the small-scale Na Sua Casa (“At Your Home”) sessions, where he tried out unreleased songs before intimate audiences, are part of an ongoing creative process. He has appeared at CAIXA Cultural Recife, Espaço Cultural BNDES in Rio de Janeiro and Sala Itaú Cultural in São Paulo. Throughout 2026, he is touring more than 20 cities across Brazil and Portugal with the voice-and-guitar show Eu Vou Ganhar o Mundo (“I’m Heading Out Into the World”). Drawing on the poetic heritage of the Pajeú and the experience of contemporary city life, PC Silva continues to build a body of work heard both in his own voice and in the interpretations of other artists.
